Introduction to CSS for Paged Media

Antenna House is proud to release its newest publication Introduction to CSS for Paged Media.

Why CSS for Print?

XSL-FO has been the standard for styling content for print for a long time, however CSS has been seeing an increase in interest over the last couple years. The main advantages of using CSS for print include the large pool of developers to choose from that already are familiar with the language and saving money from not having to find and hire an XSL-FO expert.

More developers are familiar with it because CSS is widely used in browsers, editors, and other applications. CSS is not only used for web design but also as the style-sheet specification for a wide range of printing applications as well as for electronic paged media delivered as PDF.

CSS Continues to Evolve

The short coming of CSS in the past has been it lacked the number of features for paged media that exist in the XSL-FO standard. As CSS evolves this is becoming less of an issue and it can now meet the requirements for many publications. The CSS standard is currently on version 3 and we expect it to continue to expand.
