This half-day, online event will help organizations transition to DITA. This online event features key executives who have successfully traversed a DITA migration and are now reaping the benefits. The ultimate goal of this workshop is to help organizations identify the barriers to a DITA migration and collectively outline ways to overcome those barriers, creating a clear process to move to a DITA-based content reuse workflow.
In this webinar, you will learn about the two recognized international standards available to address the fully automated formatting of pages and publications for PDF and print: CSS and XSL-FO.
This non-technical webinar will explore the two standards and address:
We will also discuss some of the resources available and show a range of familiar publications produced using CSS and XSL-FO.
Michael studied Printing Engineering and Management and has focused on high‐end composition, document formatting, and document management for over 30 years. He has an extensive background with structured data, including; SGML, XML, S1000D, and DITA. During his career, he has worked in Europe and North America and has helped with the implementations of hundreds of fully‐automated publishing and document formatting projects. Michael has been at Antenna House for 17 years and, during that time, has seen the evolution of paged output with both XSL-FO and CSS.

This session is a guided tour of some of the accessibility features of DITA, HTML, WCAG, and PDF/UA and how to style content to make it more accessible. The focus will be on file formats rather than User Agent behavior, since the information needed to make accessible HTML or PDF usually needs to be included in, or able to be inferred from, the source XML.

Antenna House sessions:
This tutorial session takes an eat-your-own-dog-food approach in showing how to use CSS for paged media. Attendees should already be familiar with CSS syntax and with using common properties such as border, padding, font-size, etc.
This is a 90-minute Unconference Day session that will be split into two halves: we’ll first discuss the state of Antenna House software and then invite you to share challenges that you’ve faced or features that you’d like to see.
This is a high-level view of the differences and similarities between XSL-FO and CSS, based on an extensive new analysis by Antenna House that itself is formatted identically using both XSL-FO and CSS. It also covers some of the features of how the two versions are produced.
At TC World, we will be showing the latest version of Antenna House Formatter along with PDF5-ML (a PDF transformation plugin that works with the DITA-OT), the AH Regression Testing System for a visual PDF to PDF comparison, Office Server Document Converter for MS Office to PDF conversions on a server, and the AHPDFXML toolkit for converting legacy PDF document files to XML.
This is the world's largest event in the field of technical communication with the TCWorld conference and the tekom fair running parallel with 140 exhibitors from around the world. Participants will get to know the most important future topics and tools in the field of technical communication in more than 240 lectures, workshops, tutorials and meetups.

XML, by itself, does not have any support for accessibility. XML is extremely flexible, but it needs to flex in the right directions if it is going to support the information necessary to make a document accessible. DITA includes some accessibility features, including some that are unique to DITA. In this webinar, Tony will guide you through of some of the features of the DITA, HTML, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and PDF/UA (Universal Accessibility) standards. We will focus more on file formats rather than User Agent behavior, since the information needed to make accessible HTML or PDF usually needs to be included in, or able to be inferred from, the source XML.
However, it’s rarely the raw XML that is presented to users. This webinar will also stray into some aspects of styling the content to make it more accessible.
Tony is the developer of Antenna House’s ‘focheck’ XSL-FO validation tool, the author of “Unicode: A Primer”, and provides XSL-FO and XSLT consulting and training services on behalf of Antenna House.

Antenna House exhibited and presented at CMS/DITA North America in Denver, Colorado. This year marked the 20th annual conference hosted by the Center for Information-Development Management (CIDM) and was filled with valuable information on DITA over the course of three days. This conference offered multiple concurrent sessions with hot topics focusing on DITA reuse, publishing, content strategy, and artificial intelligence. Along with the sessions, there was a DITA clinic, where experts answered questions and helped solve issues with the DITA standard. Attendees could also get hands-on experience in the Technology Test Kitchen, where they could follow along as a presenter demonstrates how to use a new DITA tool or software.
We presented in the Technology Test Kitchen this year with a demonstration on how to format multiple languages in a single DITA document using the Antenna House PDF5-ML plugin for DITA Open Toolkit. The PDF5-ML plugin is designed to work with AH Formatter making it easier to use, simple to modify and maintain, and more powerful than the default PDF plugin that the DITA Open Toolkit provides. Participants showed great interest in the PDF5-ML plugin and got to experience for themselves how quick and easy it is to modify a multilingual document and generating a PDF output.
